Cyber Security Seminar
04/11/2016

Meet Ryan Ackroyd, the man that hacked Sony, Fox and the FBI at our Cyber Security Seminar in November.

There’s nothing more terrifying for a business than the threat of cyber-attack, right? Still think your safe? How about a few gory details.

• Two thirds of businesses were hit by cyber-crime last year
• The average cost to resolve a cyber-crime incident is £358,956 and takes 31 days
• Only 10% of breached companies have a cyber security incident plan in place
•
Are you within that 90% that have no plan? Who better to help you than Ryan Ackroyd, former member of the notorious group of hackers – LulzSec. He now uses his insight to secure systems rather than break them.

About our speakers
Ryan Ackroyd (also known as Kayla) was the UK’s most notorious black hat hacker. As a member of ‘Anonymous’ and ‘LulzSec’, he was responsible for breaching Sony, the FBI, the CIA, the US Senate and many more. Ryan now uses his insight to secure systems rather than break them.

Joining Ryan will be university lecturer, Dr David Day and Neil Richardson. David is a National Crime Agency special officer working with the National Cybercrime Unit. Neil is an academic, consultant and chapter lead for the Open Web Application Security Project.

Nick Ross is an IT Security Specialist for Sophos. Nick has been working in IT for over 16 years. He is passionate and knowledgeable about IT security, its impact on business and individuals and how they can implement best practice and end user education to protect themselves against ever increasing cyber threats…he’s also a bit of a geek.

Chris Tate from Datto brings 30 years of experience as he began his career as a programmer before ditching the code to join an IT Managed Service Provider called Orchid IT. Chris now uses his knowledge to help IT Managed service providers explain the importance of proper business continuity solutions to their clients.
